ArcGIS Survey123 was built for accurate field data collection and with the intention of replacing those unreliable, paper-based data collection practices of old. Survey123 allows users to create forms to use on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop, offering a digital platform that fits the needs of every field worker in your organization, regardless of their work environment.
In this installment of our ArcGIS Survey123 tutorial, Drew demonstrates the Nearby Add-in features and functionality, including how to adjust the search radius surrounding your location, toggle on or off multiple inputs, and other features within the new Nearby Add-in.
Let’s dive in and explore the new Add-in! Start by opening Survey123 on your device. Once opened, click the settings tab in the top right corner. Then hold down the settings title at the top of the page to activate Beta functionality within Survey123. From there, click into the Beta settings and make sure Add-ins are enabled. Once enabled go back to the Add-in section, located in the settings tab, open that and enable the Nearby Add-in.
While viewing the app, users are able to see a radius based around their location on the map and desired buffer distance. If we want to change the distance of the radius we can do this by clicking into the settings tab located at the top of the page. From here, we not only have the option to change our radius distance units (Feet, Yards, Miles, Meters, etc.), but we’re also able to enable/disable any and all of the surveys currently available on our Survey123 app. When a specific feature has entered within the radius of your location, it’s then added to the List section, where all features can be found, edited, and are displayed from closest to furthest.
