Essex County Greenbelt Association
GeoMarvel partnered with the Essex County Greenbelt Association (ECGA) to redevelop their app that offers free trails, allowing users to search for properties, track their position on trails, download offline maps, and more. ECGA is a non-profit organization which manages the land conservation of more than 21,000 acres of natural land and working farms across the 34 cities and towns of Essex County, Massachusetts. The group’s mission is to protect the distinct landscapes of Essex County, conserve healthy ecosystems, and foster equitable access for all residents and visitors to nature.
The GreenbeltGo Trails Application
One of the ways they accomplish this is through their GreenbeltGo Trails App, which enables visitors to view details of each of the 60+ properties ECGA manages. Users of the app have the ability to see the nature-based activities that are available at each property, download property maps to be used while offline, and track their hikes on an active map.
The GreenbeltGo app was originally built using ArcGIS AppStudio. In light of the Esri announcement that the platform would be retired in early 2025, ECGA partnered with GeoMarvel to rebuild the app in .NET MAUI. The goal of this initial phase of the partnership was to ensure all existing functionality was replicated & operating efficiently.

GreenbeltGo administrators also have the ability to publish notifications app-wide or to a specific property to keep visitors apprised of important updates in real-time.
The partnership leveraged GeoMarvel’s Professional Services to architect and implement the GreenbeltGo application in Microsoft’s .NET MAUI mobile platform with robust ArcGIS Maps SDK integration, and to deploy the application to the app stores. The result was a launch well ahead of platform deprecation & a new platform on which to build for the future of ECGA.
The GreenbeltGo app is now available for download in the Google Play & Apple Stores.
