We are thrilled to welcome Carolyn Gamble to the GeoMarvel team as our new Associate Director of Services! Carolyn will support our Professional Services team with her project management expertise & also support with business development initiatives.
I am the new Associate Director of Services for GeoMarvel. This includes working with both the Professional Services team as a Project Manager, as well as supporting business development initiatives. My overall goal is to ensure successful, collaborative relationships between GeoMarvel and our clients in both capacities.
I have a Master’s degree in Ecology and Natural Resource science, which is where I got my first introduction to GIS. I have since worked in the IT industry for over 14 years as a Quality Assurance lead, Business Analyst, Agile Scrum Master, Product Owner, Project Manager, and for 10 years I was the Co-Owner of a GIS company called North Point Geographic Solutions out of Duluth, Minnesota.
I live in Minnesota so I like to take advantage of all the seasons as much as possible. I love skiing in the winter (downhill and cross country), I love hiking and have recently gotten into foraging. I am hoping to take some classes in mycology so I can gather mushrooms without fear of a hospital visit! I also love scuba diving, gardening, cooking, miscellaneous art projects & (nerd alert!) I’m a big Dungeons and Dragons fan and have been playing for years.
I think the most interesting job I had was when I was in college and did a study abroad program in Japan. There was a local grocery store having a grand opening and they wanted some Americans from my school to participate in the festivities as essentially paid actors. We had no idea what to expect when we got there, and when we arrived, I was given what looked like a Swiss Miss (think hot chocolate) costume and told to hand out balloons to children. To this day, I have no idea what that “character” had to do with the theme of the grocery store, but it was a blast!
Oh man – I have a long bucket list, but if I had to pick just one place, it would be to go back to Japan with my youngest son. I promised him I would take him there someday.
I am a HUGE fan of Halloween, dressing up in costumes and all things spooky. It’s the best time of year!
Downhill skiing and scuba diving (in WARM water–not in Minnesota!).
Evolution – if you haven’t seen it, it’s hilarious!
I love all the talent, innovation and creativity that GeoMarvel has to offer. I have been aware of the great work they do for a long time and am thrilled to now be a part of the GeoMarvel team!
GeoMarvel is excited to have Carolyn join our team. Her professional & project management skills will help strengthen our existing client relationships & discover new opportunities!
