GeoMarvel recently partnered with the US Department of State’s Greening Council and Greening Diplomacy Initiative (GDI) to develop ZephAir, a mobile application designed to provide users with hourly data and alerts for local Air Quality. ZephAir provides users with an AQI (Air Quality Index) score, which is based on levels of potentially harmful microscopic particles that are suspended in the air at a given point in time — known as Particulate Matter. The app also provides Air Quality data over the past 24 hours, as well as the average Air Quality Index (AQI) score over the last 7 days. Users can also elect to receive push notifications about current changes in air quality along with appropriate actions they can take based on their primary location.
The application is built using Ionic, a JavaScript framework to create hybrid mobile applications. The application is designed around a micro service architecture, utilizing the ArcGIS JavaScript API for all map functionality, and Microsoft Azure Functions as an API for authentication, login, data, and push notifications. The application also provides sign-on capabilities with Google, Facebook and Apple.
US Department of State The State Department Eco-Capitals Forum (ECF) leads America’s foreign policy through diplomacy, advocacy and assistance.
