2024 has been a very exciting & eventful year for the GeoMarvel Team! The year was marked by various conferences, a successful product launch & coordinating conference booth, new customers & exciting new projects, the growth of our team, and partnerships that allow us to expand our offerings and continue to deliver innovative & creative GIS solutions to our customers.
Today, we’re excited to share our Year in Review, highlighting the various projects we’ve worked on, events we attended, & key milestones and achievements.
In March 2024, the GeoMarvel team attended Esri’s Partner Conference (EPC) in Palm Springs, California. EPC, an exclusive event for Esri partners and distributors, offered insights and growth opportunities. Attendees explored sales strategies using advanced technology and ArcGIS’s expanded capabilities to drive business development. The event provided market intelligence & trends to help businesses attract and retain customers. Participants deepened their understanding of ArcGIS through role-based access, positioning their offerings more strategically. The conference also fostered networking with partners, distributors, and Esri leaders to exchange ideas and share successes.
Energized by EPC, our team also attended Esri’s 2024 Developer Summit that same week, where GIS professionals gathered to explore advancements in technology. A major focus this year was integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into GIS workflows, with announcements including the upcoming Smart Mapping assistant for ArcGIS Online, GeoAI for ArcGIS Pro, and over 70 pretrained AI models in the ArcGIS Living Atlas. The conference reinforced GeoMarvel’s commitment to applying cutting-edge GIS tools to enhance client services, and the team looks forward to building on these learnings. We predetermined sessions for each of our GeoMarvel team members to attend during their time at the conference and came away with learnings regarding ArcGIS Map SDKs for Native Apps & .NET, ArcGIS Pro and Chat GPT, web development & ArcGIS Maps SDK for Javascript, and ArcGIS Enterprise. You can read more about them here.
In July, our team traveled to San Diego for Esri’s 44th User Conference (UC). For the 2nd year in a row, GeoMarvel also attended & co-sponsored EDGE Geospatial’s UC Social the day before Plenary. It was a wonderful evening of networking & bridge-building to help share geospatial educational resources & opportunities with the goal of further diversifying this amazing industry & opening doors for people groups that may have never been exposed to everything GIS has to offer.
The conference theme, “GIS – Uniting Our World,” underscored the importance of inclusion, collaboration, & leveraging geography to solve real-world challenges. From keynotes on advancements in spatial literacy and sustainable solutions to presentations on cutting-edge capabilities like ArcGIS Pro enhancements, generative AI assistants, and new tools like ArcGIS Data Pipelines, the conference showcased Esri’s commitment to empowering GIS professionals. Exciting innovations, such as AI-powered assistants for ArcGIS and Survey123, demonstrated how automation is accelerating workflows, enhancing data analysis, and improving user experiences across the geospatial industry.
2024’s UC Expo also featured the debut of GeoMarvel’s premiere geospatial hosting & deployment platform, Spatial.Host. Spatial.Host is tailored to meet the diverse needs of GIS applications, databases, tools, & workstations. Designed as a private cloud solution, Spatial.Host simplifies the setup process, reducing the time required to configure cloud resources and GIS software from days or hours to just minutes, providing a seamless and efficient user experience. The response from clients and conference attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with live demos, informational pamphlets, and real-time Q&A sessions highlighting Spatial.Host’s capabilities. GeoMarvel was also proud to participate in three presentations, including a Partner Lightning Talk led by Jon Nordling, which showcased Spatial.Host’s roadmap, a customer success story, and an innovative GeoAI integration from our partners at Lucinetic.
A few months later, GeoMarvel was represented at the 34th Annual Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium in Duluth, Minnesota held in October 2024. The Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with over 600 members in the Minnesota GIS/LIS industry. Its mission is to develop & support the GIS/LIS community for the benefit of its people and contributors through various programs and activities.
The conference offered a range of workshops and sessions, with Day 1 dedicated to paid, expert-led workshops—an ideal opportunity for GeoMarvel to lead a session. On Days 2 and 3, diverse sessions provided another platform for GeoMarvel to showcase our expertise by submitting a presentation.
In addition to the successful launch of Spatial.Host, GeoMarvel achieved Esri Gold Tier Partnership status! This accomplishment highlights our dedication, expertise, & commitment to delivering advanced geospatial solutions. Driven by customer satisfaction, our success can be attributed to continuing to master geospatial technology, staying ahead of developments, strategic collaborations with geospatial firms, academic institutions, and a diverse array of industry experts.
Rounding out the third quarter, GeoMarvel held a Technical Internship that hosted two interns over the course of 12 weeks. Our interns gained experience working alongside & receiving mentorship from our own team of experts, gained practical hands-on experience with ArcGIS software & technologies, & selected their own areas of focus for a real-world GIS project. The interns were responsible for creating detailed project outlines, determining their project focus, creating the ArcGIS solutions from scratch, compiling a detailed report of their project method & final solutions, as well as recording a video recap for our Youtube channel. Our intern Aubree High’s topic centered on the utility industry, specifically vegetative risk around powerlines and our intern Latoya Jackson, focused on environmental impacts, devised solutions to monitor & address chemical contamination in a well-known gemstone mine. At the conclusion of the internship, interns also presented their projects to the broader GeoMarvel Team. We are both proud & impressed with all that our interns were able to accomplish in their brief time with us.
Our fourth quarter was marked by two very exciting developments. Firstly, we entered into a partnership with Fulcrum, a company who specializes in asset management & field data collection capabilities. The platform they have developed enables teams to greatly customize how field data is gathered, shared, and presented. Together, GeoMarvel & Fulcrum will partner to offer additional solutions to customers in need of support in these areas. We are targeting Q1 2025 for a press release so stay tuned!
Last but not least, we held a webinar with our AI technology partners at Lucinetic, presenting a demonstration of our Spatial.Host platform & Lucinetic’s AI integration into it, called LuciAI. We look forward to sharing this insightful & informative webinar with you in early 2025 and hosting additional webinars with new & existing strategic partners throughout the year.
