Team Spotlight | Katelyn Jenkins

We’re thrilled to welcome Katelyn Jenkins as our newest Solutions Engineer! Her extensive background in GIS & technical experience within the ArcGIS ecosystem will greatly contribute to her ability to craft geospatial solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.
Now, let’s learn a bit more about Katelyn!

What is your role at GeoMarvel?

As a Solutions Engineer at GeoMarvel, I translate complex geospatial technologies into practical, impactful solutions for clients. I design and deploy innovative GIS workflows that unlock deeper spatial insights and improve decision‑making. By partnering closely with clients to understand their challenges, I leverage modern geospatial software to build tailored solutions that enhance efficiency and drive measurable results.

Describe your education and professional background.

I graduated from the University of Redlands with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Minored in GIS. After college, I worked as a Technical Support specialist at Esri supporting products ranging from ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Server Extensions. My primary focus was troubleshooting and resolving issues customers encountered. I later worked as an ArcGIS Online/Enterprise Administrator in the State and Local Government sector.

Tell us about the most interesting job you've had?

I worked as a dock hand at a fuel dock on Lake Washington in the summers during college. I also was a kayak tour guide in La Jolla Cove where I guided customers along the coastline, educating them on the local marine ecosystem, marine species, ways to protect our coastlines, and guide them into the local caves! Surfing the kayaks back into shore was the most exciting part of the tours.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would return to Norway and explore more of the country. The fjords and environment are beautiful and there is much more to see. Since most of my ancestry traces back to Norway, I feel a strong desire to explore more of it.

How do you like to spend your free time?

When I am not working, I coach water polo, love to work out, get outside, try new hobbies, visit Washington as much as I can and hang out with friends. I am also trying to garden more.

What random facts can you share about yourself?

I have a twin sister, a cat named Steven, and love everything about marine sciences. My favorite marine animal is a Sea Otter.

Favorite activity/sport?

Water Polo and Swimming. I also enjoy kayaking, snorkeling/free diving, and trying to learn how to surf!

Favorite movie?

Crazy Stupid Love.

What excites you about joining the GeoMarvel team?

I am genuinely excited to join a team that shares my passion and forward‑thinking mindset for geospatial technology. The employees at GeoMarvel are dedicated, hardworking, and consistently provide professional support to clients by enhancing their workflows through well‑designed GIS systems. That atmosphere makes it very rewarding to be a part of this team.

We look forward to working with Katelyn to continue to deliver impactful geospatial solutions to our clients!
