PureWest partnered with GeoMarvel in an effort to turn their 2021 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Sustainability Report into an ArcGIS StoryMap, providing stakeholders with an inside look into their sustainability efforts, and their continued advancements in data and technology to support corporate social responsibility. The ESG report is more than just an annual disclosure, it’s a reflection of who they are, how they operate, and their commitment to excellence! The StoryMap showcases the power of GIS to visualize and support initiatives outlined within the sustainability report. One instance of this is through PureWest’s emissions monitoring program, where sensor emissions reporting is helping PureWest to achieve one of the lowest methane intensity rates in the country (0.053%). Leveraging drone imagery is another example of how GIS data is being consumed by PureWest, providing immediate aerial visualization and analysis that can be adapted in a multitude of ways. Air Quality: PureWest is committed to improving air quality through Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reduction. As a company, PureWest is continuously researching and testing ground-breaking and industry-leading strategies to reduce GHG emissions. Water Management: As an oil and gas operator, PureWest recognizes its role to act as a steward of water conservation and management. Biodiversity & Wildlife: PureWests operation is situated in the Upper Green River Basin, which is an area that is home to an abundance of wildlife, unique ecosystems, and world-class plant and animal species. To help keep these areas as natural as possible, PureWest is involved in reclamation projects, cheatgrass initiatives, friendly fencing, and their consciousness of migration corridors, just to name a few.
Trustwell: In 2021, PureWest proudly received Platinum Certified TrustWell status Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG) by Project Canary on 90 of their wells. The certification involved a rigorous audit and field evaluation of their stewardship with respect to air, land, water, and the community, signifying their commitment to being responsible environmental stewards.
Spill Prevention: PureWest has a rigorous spill prevention and response program, which aims to proactively prevent spills as well as minimize the impact of accidental releases. Their program outlines the emergency response steps following an accidental spill, regardless of the size. Also, a secondary containment is used to ensure that any spill is contained quickly and with minimal damage to the environment.
